Portugal - Leça da Palmeira

Leça da Palmeira is a bustling seaside resort located a short drive north of Oporto, Portugal’s second largest city.

Traditionally a fishing town, the population swells during the summer months on account of its long sandy beach.
The town is also popular for its numerous high-quality fish and seafood restaurant dotted along the coast road.

We can come to Leça da Palmeira, car, plane or train.

If you come from outside of Portugal, you can just take a flight to Oporto. There are several companies that make economic flights EasyJet, to Oporto.

On arrival at the airport, follow in direction to Leça da Palmeira 5.6 km - about 11 minutes. You can get rent a car in the airport.

We can start looking for place to sleep. Although there aren't plenty of information about hostel and pension, by just a quick search on Googleyou will  find something. Here are some suggestions

The beach is a long stretch of sand, has fewer rocks as they walked south. Ideal for practicing bodyboard and surf, caution is needed with the sea because of their dangerousness. Beach with good infrastructure is one of the busiest in the county. It is also known as Praia da Refinaria.

Large waves and very aggressive sea, are some of the features of this beach ... where there is no need of wings to fly high.

The project Flatland gives us to know better through the locals, one of the best spots in the north shore of Portugal.

You can get more information at Flatland
There are several videos available on YouTube, where you can see the true strength of this wave.

Here is a sample

Until the next beach...
